SEED TO SEAL
The Sourcing Standard applies to all stages of the Young Living essential oil supply chain, including farms, wildcrafting operations, and our distilleries.
YL oils are sourced from our 25 corporate-owned farms, partner farms, and Seed to Seal suppliers. This empowers us to source conscientiously and with sensitivity to local communities and ecosystems. Sustainability and being good stewards of the earth have always been huge priorities for this company.
Young Living sources it's essential oils from our 25 corporate-owned farms, partner farms, and Seed to Seal suppliers.
Young Living's Seed to Seal suppliers go through stringent quality testing, Seed to Seal training, signed declarations, compliance training and certification. They are audited often with site visits and many of these relationships have been in place for decades.
If a supplier sends Young Living a batch of oil, and it doesn't pass Seed to Seal standards for any reason, it is sent back.
Quality matters.
TESTING
Every essential oil at Young Living is tested in triplicate... twice!
YL tests for heavy metals like lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury + a full range of microbial contaminants, including pathogens like e. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, salmonella, and other possible organism contaminants (such as yeasts or molds), and agrochemicals.
Product testing doesn’t take place exclusively within our two in-house labs, staffed with more than 50 highly trained, highly skilled scientists. Young Living also utilizes third-party labs, working with more than a dozen of the world’s leading, independent, and accredited labs with highly skilled and trained scientists who specialize in advanced product testing.
